In 1934, at the height of the Great Depression, then-Ogden Mayor Harm Peery launched a summertime celebration to lift the spirits of northern Utah families. That tradition carries on today at Ogden Pioneer Days, which continues to honor the strength of a community that was forged by the heat of railroad steel. Each year, during the week of July 24, downtown Ogden comes alive with not only the spirit of Utah’s unique pioneer heritage, but the spark of future prosperity. Join us each year on the last night of the rodeo for the ride of the summer, a tradition that has withstood the test of time.

STEEP CANYON RANGERS WITH DELLA MAE

Ogden Amphitheater 343 E 25th St Ogden, UT 84401 · Ogden Amphitheater 343 E 25th St Ogden, UT 84401

Steep Canyon Rangers return to Ogden with Della Mae for a midsummer evening of bluegrass at the Amphitheater. Two bands. Fiddles, banjos, mandolin. Harmonies tight enough to carry across an open field. STEEP CANYON RANGERS OGDEN: A BLUEGRASS EVENING WORTH YOUR MONDAY You might know Steep Canyon Rangers as Steve Martin’s bluegrass band. That’s fair. They’ve shared stages with him at Carnegie Hall, the Royal Festival Hall, Bonnaroo, and Austin City Limits. They’ve backed him on albums featuring Paul McCartney and the Dixie Chicks. But spend five minutes with their own catalog and you’ll hear something deeper: a Grammy-winning band with 25 years of Appalachian grit, literary songwriting, and voices that trade lines like old friends finishing each other’s sentences.

The Lake: Great Salt Lake Film Series

Austad Auditorium, Browning Center at WSU 3848 Harrison Blvd Ogden, UT 84403 · Austad Auditorium, Browning Center at WSU 3848 Harrison Blvd Ogden, UT 84403

The event is free, but please secure a ticket to ensure seating capacity. Come enjoy the film, connect with Great Salt Lake organizations, and participate in an exclusive behind-the-scenes Q&A with the filmmakers and those leading the efforts to save Great Salt Lake. This free event will be one of the first public screenings of The Lake since its Sundance Film Festival debut. ABOUT THE FILM: The Lake (2026)—winner of the Sundance Film Festival Award for Social Impact—follows key actors across science and policy working to save Great Salt Lake and save their home from an unprecedented environmental catastrophe. Urgency emanates from this sober record that local Utah filmmaker Abby Ellis logs in human history — a chapter of monumental ecological and social consequence unfolding in our shared home. Intertwining the inextricable fates of the Great Salt Lake and the millions of people who live, work, and travel surrounding it, Ellis achieves an existential scope that is both terrifying and motivating, wrought with divinity and doom. ABOUT OUR ORGANIZATION: Grow the Flow is a systems change organization working to turn the ongoing collapse of the largest saline lake in the Western Hemisphere into the first comeback story of its kind. We increase water flow to Great Salt Lake through non-partisan community organizing, independent policy & scientific solutions development, and high-impact venture philanthropy.

Art Stroll is on Friday, August 7th, 2026! The store will be open later than usual for Art Stroll from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm; with then even later until 10pm for shopping. We are thrilled to announce that we have 2 Featured Artist this month!! Fiona Hurst and Gaye Hurst 1-My name is Fiona Hurst, and I married my husband, Mike Hurst of Hurst’s Handblown Glass in 2004. I’m a mom to three hooligans and work full-time as a Medical Assistant, balancing the beautiful chaos of family life with a rewarding career. Over the years, I’ve dabbled in glasswork on and off, but it wasn’t until 2025 that I truly found my passion. What started as an attempt to create worry stones for anxiety quickly turned into something much more—I was hooked. Since then, I’ve expanded my creativity, discovering a love for crafting heart pendants and continuing my journey in the art of glass, one piece at a time. 2-Gaye Leatherow Hurst was born in Ogden and was raised in North Ogden and graduated from Weber High class of ‘71. She started crocheting and sewing Barbie clothes as a teenager and has dabbled in many different things since, excelling in all of them, just trying to keep herself and her hands busy. She has made lampwork beads, tried her hand at glass fusing, mosaics, ceramics, toll painting, counted Cross-stitch, polymer clay and currently seed beating (I’m sure there is more). She likes working with glass, whether it is nipping pieces for a mosaic, making beads or stitching seed beads into an intricate pattern. Classes and Events happening during the Art Stroll: 6:00-9:00: Everyone has been loving the glass blown worry stones. Now you can actually meet the incredible artist who makes them: Fiona Hurst. What is Mixed Media Collage Have you ever felt the urge to break free from the confines of traditional art? To mix things up, quite literally, and create something that’s not just a painting or a photograph but a delightful amalgamation of everything you can get your hands on? Written by: www.jerrypoon.com…/ultimate-guide-mixed-media… Rules to enter: -This Community Art Show is free to enter. -You can create an art piece by yourself with your own supplies. -Artists can choose any image or 3D piece to create as long as it is family-friendly and under 4 inches by 4 inches. -There will be no jury but your tiny art piece will need to be brought into the Collective by August 5th at 7:00. We are located at 2371 Kiesel Ave, Ogden. -Artist can submit up to 5 pieces. Learn More about Mixed Media and Collage: What exactly is mixed media collage? Imagine taking elements from different art forms—think painting, photography, textiles, and even digital art—and blending them into a single composition. The result? A rich, layered artwork that tells a story, evokes emotions, and captures the complexity of the human experience. The origins of collage date back to the early 20th century, with pioneers like Picasso and Braque leading the charge. But the beauty of mixed media collage is that it has evolved, transcending time and trends. Today, it’s a dynamic, ever-changing art form that invites you to experiment, innovate, and most importantly, have fun. Written by: www.jerrypoon.com…/ultimate-guide-mixed-media…
