This 2 hour class is perfect for first-time potters that want to give pottery a try before committing to a full 6-week course, or for those who just want to try something new! The primary emphasis of this class will be on the fundamentals of throwing on the wheel and learning how to transform a ball of clay into a vessel/cylinder. Students may keep up to two pieces! At the end of class, select two pieces and how you’d like them glazed. Our team will trim and glaze them, and you’ll be able to come pick them up within 4 weeks. All materials and tools are provided. Creatures & Clay: A Chameleon Handbuilding Workshop

Enjoy a one-of-a-kind pottery workshop featuring some very special live guests to Dumbo Ceramics: chameleons! In this playful 2-hour handbuilding class, participants will get up close with live chameleons, learn fun facts about these amazing reptiles, and use them as inspiration for their own clay creations. Participants can choose one piece to keep. Staff will fire and glaze your piece, ready for pickup in 3-4 weeks. A guest animal handler will be joining the class for the full workshop with live chameleons. He’ll introduce participants to the animals, share fun facts, answer questions, and bring the chameleons around during the class so everyone can observe them up close and draw inspiration for their clay pieces. At the end, participants will also have the chance to take photos with the chameleons. During the workshop, a clay instructor will guide everyone through sculptural handbuilding techniques, including how to shape animal-inspired forms and create reptile skin textures in clay. Projects might include lizard sculptures, reptile caves or hides, animal-themed cups, bowls, vases, or other nature-inspired pieces. Join a free walking tour to learn about the history of the Brooklyn waterfront at Brooklyn Bridge Park! Learn about the local ecology, Brooklyn Bridge Park’s sustainable design, and how the park came to life! Tours last roughly 60-90 minutes, starting from the entrance of Pier 1 and finishing near Pier 3. Waterfront Walks take place on select Sundays (10:30 AM) and Tuesdays (6:30 PM May-August and 6:00 PM in September-October) between May and October. View all upcoming dates here. Sunday Afternoons are for clay and family! Bring your kids to the studio for a fun, beginner-friendly clay experience where they will learn how to make pinch pots and create their own clay project. Each ticket is for one participating child and their caretaker and includes one clay project. Children must be accompanied by a caretaker at all times. Caretakers are there to supervise, assist, and encourage children as they create; tickets do not include a separate project for adults. If you’d like to keep your child’s finished piece, please let the staff know at the event. They can glaze and fire it for you, and it will be ready for pickup in approximately 3–4 weeks. We’ll send you an email as soon as it’s ready! Clay, aprons, tools, and instruction are all provided, just come ready to get creative! This summer, Cookbook Club is partnering with Culturally Curious Club to explore and celebrate the food and culture of Tokyo. You’ve tried sushi and ramen, but have you explored the spectrum of Japanese street food? Enjoy an evening of diving into Tokyo street food culture where you’ll learn by cooking and tasting. What to Expect: Each gathering focuses on recipes from a featured author’s cookbook. For this evening, you will explore the food of Tokyo as shared by Maori Murota in Tokyo Cult Recipes. Maori Murota is a Tokyo native chef and educator living in Paris. Tokyo Cult Recipes is an introduction to the dishes of the city she grew up in — from memories of family meals at home to restaurant cooking. In addition to sharing a potluck meal of dishes from Tokyo Cult Recipes, attendees will be making Onigiri with rice and a selection fillings.
One of Brooklyn Bridge Park’s most popular series, Movies With A View presented by Persol, returns for its 26th season with outdoor films on Thursday evenings in July and August – expanding with an additional family film night on September 18. Clueless (PG-13, 1995, 97 minutes) is a beloved film adapted from Jane Austen’s Emma about a high school student playing matchmaker for her peers and teachers is a perfect movie to watch on the lawn with friends. Come early to enjoy a picnic on the lawn and refreshing waterfront breezes, with New York Harbor and Manhattan skyline views like no other as the sun sets. Entry is free and first-come, first serve starting at 6:00 PM. Movies begin at sunset. Guests are welcome to bring their own food for picnicking and encouraged to support nearby Park concessions and neighborhood restaurants. Popcorn, water, soft drinks, and alcoholic beverages (for those 21+) will be available for sale on-site by Fornino. Attendees are encouraged to bring picnic blankets or small soft cushions but reminded that lawn chairs and dogs are not permitted on the lawn, and glass bottles and outside alcohol are never allowed in the Park.

Sunday Afternoons are for clay and family! Bring your kids to the studio for a fun, beginner-friendly clay experience where they will learn how to make pinch pots and create their own clay project. Each ticket is for one participating child and their caretaker and includes one clay project. Children must be accompanied by a caretaker at all times. Caretakers are there to supervise, assist, and encourage children as they create; tickets do not include a separate project for adults. If you’d like to keep your child’s finished piece, please let the staff know at the event. They can glaze and fire it for you, and it will be ready for pickup in approximately 3–4 weeks. We’ll send you an email as soon as it’s ready! Clay, aprons, tools, and instruction are all provided, just come ready to get creative! If our world were more just, Chris Young would have been crossing a stage at college graduation at the age of 22. Instead, he was marched into a maximum-security federal prison, facing life under mandatory drug sentencing laws. Like far too many young Black men from his neighborhood in Clarksville, Tennessee, this was where his story was supposed to end. But one day in the prison library, a book caught his eye: an encyclopedia. As he began to turn the pages, Chris felt himself transported. Knowledge became a portal. He began to confront the nihilism around him, the trauma of his past, and the cruelty of a system determined to confine him. From the library, his cell, and even solitary confinement, Chris built an education from scratch, studying philosophy, art, anthropology, history, physics, and politics. He learned to analyze the stock market and taught himself how to code without a computer. He trained his mind—and refused to let prison dictate the limits of his imagination. At his sentencing hearing, Chris gave such a moving speech that the judge resigned from his lifetime appointment to the bench and fought to free him. Started in solitary confinement and finished beyond bars, The Wound Is Where the Light Enters is a powerful meditation on choice, consequence, and human potential, told through the story of a man who was never given a chance—and who fought until, at last, he was.

One of Brooklyn Bridge Park’s most popular series, Movies With A View presented by Persol, returns for its 26th season with outdoor films on Thursday evenings in July and August – expanding with an additional family film night on September 18. Join for first film of the epic franchise thirty years in the making – revisit the original movie Jurassic Park (PG-13, 1993, 122 minutes), when scientists first set foot on Isla Nubar and encounter the adventure of a lifetime. Come early to enjoy a picnic on the lawn and refreshing waterfront breezes, with New York Harbor and Manhattan skyline views like no other as the sun sets. Meet at the north entrance of Pier 2, look for the floating dock. The Sunday Family program is specifically geared for kids and families, allowing younger paddlers to go solo in single kayaks! One of Brooklyn Bridge Park’s most popular series, Movies With A View presented by Persol, returns for its 26th season with outdoor films on Thursday evenings in July and August – expanding with an additional family film night on September 18. On Thursday, August 13 join for a viewing of Do the Right Thing (R, 1989, 120 minutes). Directed by Brooklyn’s Spike Lee, this classic film follows the stories of various Bed-Stuy residents on a hot summer day, culminating in violence and tragedy. Come early to enjoy a picnic on the lawn and refreshing waterfront breezes, with New York Harbor and Manhattan skyline views like no other as the sun sets. Entry is free and first-come, first serve starting at 6:00 PM. Movies begin at sunset. Entry is free and first-come, first serve starting at 6:00 PM. Movies begin at sunset. Guests are welcome to bring their own food for picnicking and encouraged to support nearby Park concessions and neighborhood restaurants. Popcorn, water, soft drinks, and alcoholic beverages (for those 21+) will be available for sale on-site by Fornino. Attendees are encouraged to bring picnic blankets or small soft cushions but reminded that lawn chairs and dogs are not permitted on the lawn, and glass bottles and outside alcohol are never allowed in the Park.

This 2 hour class is perfect for first-time potters that want to give pottery a try before committing to a full 6-week course, or for those who just want to try something new! The primary emphasis of this class will be on the fundamentals of throwing on the wheel and learning how to transform a ball of clay into a vessel/cylinder. Students may keep up to two pieces! At the end of class, select two pieces and how you’d like them glazed. Our team will trim and glaze them, and you’ll be able to come pick them up within 4 weeks. All materials and tools are provided. Aprons are also provided, but you are recommended to wear clothes and shoes you don’t mind getting a little muddy. Class Level: Beginner

Inspired by Arthur Schnitzler’s La Ronde, THE CIRCUIT reimagines the classic cycle of intimate encounters as a pulse-driven, fully immersive silent disco ballet. Produced by New York Theatre Company, this bold new work fuses dance, theatre, and nightlife into a visceral experience that is intimate, fluid, and unapologetically provocative. Upon arrival, audience members receive wireless headphones. Through them, the entire world of the show unfolds — a fully realised play and an original EDM score transmitted directly into your ears. You hear whispered dialogue, internal monologues, ambient sound, and a live-mixed soundscape with cinematic clarity. Nothing is projected outward. No voices fill the room. Every confession, every breath, every thought feels as though it’s meant for you alone. And yet, what you see is something entirely different. While you are hearing a play and an original score, you are watching dance unfold in real time — on the streets of DUMBO. As you follow characters from site to site outdoors, choreography erupts against the backdrop of cobblestone streets, alleyways, storefronts, and the Manhattan Bridge skyline. Language lives in your headphones; physicality lives in the city around you. The result is a thrilling dual experience: an intimate narrative in your ears and a visceral ballet unfolding live in the open air. There is no traditional stage. No fixed seat. You move with the performers through the neighbourhood, tracing a looping chain of desire and consequence — seduction, power, vulnerability, violence, longing, and collapse. Each audience member curates their own journey, shaped by who they follow, where they linger, and which moments they choose to witness. The experience is both collective and deeply personal. Though everyone inhabits the same world, no two paths are identical. The constant electronic pulse creates an emotional throughline, transforming even stillness into something electric and cinematic.
