Come out to Frankford Boat Launch for a community cleanup! (Plus water vessel recycling event!) This cleanup is hosted by Riverfront North & United by Blue, and supported by GreenFi & The Philadelphia Water Department! This community cleanup is a chance for individuals in the greater Philadelphia area to go come together to clean along the Delaware River. We will look for various types of trash and safely remove the debris from the park and the rivers edge. Bring your old non-motorized watersport vessels (think kayaks, innertubes, canoes, paddles, etc.) and fishing gear and we will recycle it for you- for free! More details to come! All cleanup gear (gloves, pickers, & trash bags) will be provided, but feel free to bring your own gloves if preferred. Please wear comfortable clothing and closed-toed shoes. Lastly, be sure to bring a reusable water bottle to stay hydrated. 💧A water cooler will be available for refills. Volunteering for this cleanup event will not only contribute to a cleaner river, it will also give you the opportunity to win some United by Blue gear! The Nation of Artists tour explores the diverse narratives of American art and identity throughout the newly restored Historic Landmark Building. Led by experienced docents, the tour examines the internationalism and global exchange of American art while also highlighting works from the 18th century to the modern day which feature American artists responding to the social conditions of their time. Organized in conjunction with America's 250th anniversary, A Nation of Artists examines how artistic production in the United States has been shaped by creativity, exchange, expansion, conflict, and innovation. At PAFA, works made from the late 18th century to today will be arranged thematically to explore scenes of westward expansion, the rise of industry, and international exchange. Installed throughout PAFA's recently restored Historic Landmark Building, the exhibition will chart America's history from 1700 to the present day thorough more than 1,000 paintings, photographs, sculptures, decorative arts, and more. Across PAFA and the Philadelphia Museum of Art, more than 120 rarely seen works from the Middleton Family Collection—one of the nation's most significant private holdings of American art—will be on public view for the first time.

Join our one time class to learn the basics of handbuilding! All participants must be at least 6 years old, and accompanied by an adult if they are younger than 10 years old. There is a $20.00 fee if you would like to keep what you throw. We will then finish and glaze your piece with a color of your choosing, and your piece will be ready for pick up 4 weeks after your class. We will notify you when your piece is finished, and we will hold your piece for 1 month after its completion before donating it. Please note that you must clean your wheel and area thoroughly at the end of class. The kiln is an unpredictable place, and occasionally pieces may not successfully make it through both firings intact. If this happens, we will work with you to find a fair solution. No refunds for the class will be made for pieces that do not make it through both firings.

Flamenco emerged as a unique art form in the 15th century: Spanish Gypsies (Roma) danced flamenco privately in their rural homes, and the dance gradually migrated from the countryside to the cities in the south of Spain, where Gypsy artists performed on the streets and in plazas. By the 1840s, nightclubs called “Cafes del Cante” began to host flamenco Tablaos, giving flamencos the opportunity to demonstrate their extraordinary skills at improvising movement within the confines of strict musical and rhythmic structures. The cafes were the first enterprises to pay flamenco dancers, singers, and musicians, and commercial flamenco was born.

We will notify you when your piece is finished, and we will hold your piece for 1 month after its completion before donating it. The kiln is an unpredictable place, and occasionally pieces may not successfully make it through both firings intact. If this happens, we will work with you to find a fair solution. Our one-time Grown Up & Me wheel classes are 90 minutes long. This is a great way for adults & children to learn the basics of pottery while also getting a feel for the wheel in a casual, relaxed environment. Children must be at least 7 years old, and no older than 17 years old to participate.Children younger than 7 can register for one of our Grown Up & Me (Handbuilding) classes. Registration must be made for both adult and child participants. All tools are included for these classes. Cancellations must be made at least 48 hours before the start of your class for a refund. 24 hours is required to reschedule. In partnership with the Delaware River Waterfront Corporation, join Riverways for a free trip on the Delaware River every Thursday in October, beginning near Cherry St Pier. Paddle with friends and neighbors as the sun sets and experience Philadelphia from a whole new perspective. Each paddle is an opportunity to slow down, connect with nature, and learn about the rich and multifaceted history of the Delaware River and Philadelphia. These beginner-friendly paddles cover approximately 2–3 miles. No swimming or kayaking experience is required! We’ll provide basic instruction, safety guidance, and all the necessary gear for your adventure. Registration is required, and participants must be 12 years or older to kayak. Join us for an illuminating conversation between curators from two of America's most distinguished art institutions as part of PAFA's landmark exhibition A Nation of Artists. Dr. Lea Stephenson, Kenneth R. Woodcock Curator of Historical American Art at PAFA, and Kerry Bickford, Associate Curator at the Brandywine Museum of Art, explore how American artists have depicted landscapes—from the Hudson River School's sublime vistas to the Brandywine tradition's intimate terrain, and contemporary artists reimagining these spaces today. This dialogue examines how landscape painting has shaped American cultural identity across centuries, reflecting changing relationships with the land, environment, and national mythology. Drawing on the rich collections of both institutions, our speakers will trace connections between historical masters and today's artists who continue to challenge and expand how we see the American landscape. As America celebrates its 250th anniversary and PAFA reopens its Historic Landmark Building with A Nation of Artists, this program offers a rare opportunity to explore one of American art's most enduring subjects through fresh eyes and urgent questions about place, belonging, and our shared horizons. About Kerry Bickford and Brandywine Kerry Bickford is a Philadelphia-based curator and artistic producer whose practice focuses on site-responsive public art and intersections between art and local ecology. She is currently Associate Curator at the Brandywine Conservancy and Museum of Art, where she has curated Abundance/Excess: A Contemporary Eye on Still Life. Prior to joining Brandywine, she served as Senior Project Manager at Monument Lab, where she produced Declaration House and the Monument Lab Summit. Bickford has also worked as Curator of Ecological Futures and Director of Programs at Philadelphia Contemporary, where she curated or co-curated the projects Jean Shin: Freshwater, Lenape Sippu: Call Her by Her Name, Tracey Emin: A Moment Without You, Commonwealth, Edward Burtynsky: Megaresources, and Ana Vizcarra Rankin: time/scale. She has produced and co-produced numerous projects including Grounds that Shout! (and others merely shaking) and Jane Irish: Antipodes. Bickford has an M.A. from the Williams College Graduate Program in the History of Art and a B.A. in English and Art History from Northwestern University. Renowned for its holdings of the Wyeth family of artists, the Brandywine Museum of Art features galleries dedicated to the work of N.C. Wyeth, Andrew Wyeth and Jamie Wyeth. The Museum’s outstanding Brandywine Collection is a cross-section of American art, with a special focus on artistic practice in the Brandywine Valley. Nineteenth- and twentieth-century landscape paintings testify to the beauty that drew well-known artists to the area. Important portraits, still life paintings and notable holdings in American illustration add diversity and breadth to this unique collection. Woodcock Curator of Historical American Art at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts. She oversees PAFA’s collection from the eighteenth to the early twentieth century and serves as the co-curator of A Nation of Artists, a landmark exhibition and reinstallation that explores new ideas and interpretations of American art through the 18th century to the contemporary world. WORLD’S BEST SHORT FILMS RETURN TO THE SCOTTISH RITE AUDITORIUM, THURSDAY, OCTOBER 15th Garden State Film Festival and Asbury Shorts USA Present an Evening of Award-Winning Films from Around the World, Including Work by Local Camden County Filmmakers and Students COLLINGSWOOD, NJ — Asbury Shorts USA, now in its 44th year, and the Garden State Film Festival will once again bring an evening of award-winning short films from around the world to the Scottish Rite Auditorium in Collingswood on Thursday, October 15, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. Presented in association with the Camden County Board of Commissioners, this year’s “Best of the Fest” program will feature an eclectic collection of outstanding short films from filmmakers around the world, including works with strong local connections to Camden County. Joining the evening will be Camden County Commissioner Director Louis Cappelli Jr. and Commissioner Colleen Bianco Bezich, as the program celebrates independent filmmaking, international storytelling and the creative talent emerging from South Jersey. Among the locally connected films featured in this year’s program is Terroir, filmed at Amalthea Cellars in Atco, which follows a young wine critic who returns to a French vineyard one year after delivering a bad review. The program will also feature Outside the Lines, a documentary chronicling the Winslow Township Girls Track Team. The film was created by students through Studio 106, Winslow Township High School’s television production and media program, placing the work of young South Jersey filmmakers on the same big screen as award-winning shorts from around the world. Eric Ascalon, Chair of the Garden State Film Festival Board, said, “There’s something magical about seeing a great short film with an audience—the entire world can change in ten or fifteen minutes.
